Description of MTB Balusters: MTB Balusters offer unique design options that are not typically found in traditional 2 x 2 wood balusters. They are available in three different lengths and are constructed from steel with a durable powder coated finish. These balusters can be easily installed onto wood or composite railings using plastic baluster connectors, which are available for both flat and stair applications. Optional designer connectors are also available for those looking to add a more decorative touch to their railing system. Option A: Step 1: Begin by measuring the distance between the posts to determine the length of the top (A) and bottom (B) rail sections. The package includes 10 balusters, which should fit a 4’ section of rail. Step 2: Cut the top 2x4 (A), 2x4 (E), and bottom 2x4 (B) rails to length and mark and drill holes (C) along the length of the rails. The baluster spacing should be 4-1/2” on-center, with equal spacing at each end between the first and last balusters and posts. Step 3: Mount the lower rail (B) to the posts and insert the lower end of each baluster into the holes, ensuring that plastic caps (F) are in place on each end. Step 4: Secure the top rail (A) in place and insert the top end of the balusters into the holes in the rail. Step 5: Finish off the railing by adding a 2x4 cap rail (E). For rail sections longer than 4’, support blocks (D) are recommended between the bottom rail and the deck. Option B: To install balusters using Option B, measure the railing opening from post to post to determine the length of each baluster rail section. Cut the top (A) and bottom (B) rails (2x4’s) to length, clamp them together, and mark them 4-1/2” on-center. Fasten SMDRA connectors to the rails on each mark and place the bottom rail between the posts, supported by a block. Secure the rail to the posts and slide the balusters over the bottom connectors, then carefully place the top rail over the balusters. Inspect the finished railing for proper baluster spacing and add a cap rail (C) for a polished look. These balusters come in a pack of 10, including 20 connectors with screws. They are 3/4" round x 32" in length and are easy to install and maintain. The glossy black powder coating ensures that these steel balusters will last for years, adding a vibrant touch to your deck or porch railing. With approximately 1 baluster every 5 inches, these balusters are ideal for use in a variety of outdoor applications, including wood deck railing, handrail pickets, stair fencing, cable railing, and more.
